North Americans living or traveling in Mexico are encouraged to register with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate through the State Department’s Travel Registration Website.
North Americans without Internet access may register directly with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. By registering, you’ll make it easier for the embassy or consulate to contact you in case of emergency. U.S. Consulate Agencies are sub-branches of the U.S. Embassy. These are smaller offices that provide only basic consular services. You may also want to contact a consular agency if you have a specific concern about an incident taking place near that agency.It is usually best to contact the embassy or consulate nearest you, since that office will be in the best position to offer you help or information.
